KCKHA Opens Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List

The Kansas City Kansas Housing Authority plans to accept pre-applications for its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program starting on Monday August 16, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. and ending Wednesday August 18, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. CT. During the pre-application period, you may apply on-line or in person. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences. The waiting list will have selection local preferences of Homeless, Local Resident of Wyandotte County, and Veteran.

You may access the on-line application through our Web site at www.kckha.org and enter an application during the Application Period. Or you may apply in-person at the Section 8 office, with a staff member on-line during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. only when the waiting list is open. Before you begin the application, you must have the names, dates of birth, and Social Security Numbers available for all household members. A Pre-Application Receipt containing a confirmation number will be available at the time of submission, which is unique to each applicant.

Only a single application from any one household will be accepted, so submitting multiple applications will not increase your chances of receiving housing assistance. The application process will involve two steps. Step one is the pre-application which will be digitally signed by the applicant. Step two is the final determination of eligibility referred to as the full application. The full application takes place when the family reaches the top of the waiting list.

Applicants who need help completing the application due to disability can make a reasonable accommodation request to the housing authority via (913) 281-3300.
