THE FAMILY CONSERVANCY (TFC)

Description:
Collaboration between KCKHA and TFC. The Family Conservancy has an office on site at St. Margaret's. They work with children and families by providing youth programs and positive alternatives for public housing youth. Services include, but are not limited to, counseling, parenting education, mentoring, emergency assistance, seasonal activities, etc.

Summer, 1996

Program Size:
Approximately 100 families are served by this program yearly.

Eligible Participants:
Families residing at St. Margaret's family development.

Type of Assistance:
TFC provides a variety of social service programs, including parent education, counseling, mentoring, emergency assistance, seasonal activities, self-esteem programs, and other activities that prompt healthy, safe, and positive life choices.

Contributors to the Program:
TFC provides the staff and supplies at no cost to the Housing Authority. KCKHA provides TFC with a three- bedroom unit and pays for the maintenance and utilities for the facility.

PHA Funding:
KCKHA provides a three-bedroom unit at St. Margaret's and encourages residents to participate in the program.
