Description:
Resident Associations meet monthly for one hour at each family development. Individuals
living at scattered sites are encouraged to attend meetings at the family development
closest to them. The purpose of the resident associations is to unite and empower
residents in promoting public safety, self-sufficiency, and encourage their input on
housing authority programming and operations.
Program Size:
All residents are encouraged to participate.
Eligible Participants:
All heads of households living in a family development or scattered site.
Type of Assistance:
The Residents Association provides information and the opportunity for input regarding all
programming, operating budget, security/ public safety and family self-sufficiency
activities. The residents association also invites guest speakers from various agencies
and programs to assist all residents in improving their quality of life.
Contributors to the Program:
KCKHA staff, state, local and federal government agencies, local social service agencies,
local employers and educational institutions.
PHA Funding:
KCKHA provides funds from its operational budget, public housing drug elimination grant
and private donations to promote and maintain public housing resident incentives through
the residents association.
