KC-KNAP (The Kansas City, Kansas Northeast Adolescent Project)

Description:
A collaboration between the Kansas Multicultural Alcohol and Drug Treatment (KMADT),
KCKHA, USD 500 and The Boys and Girls Club.
Anticipated Program Start Date:
Spring, 2000
Program Size:
Approximately 500 youth and their parents.
Eligible Applicants:
Youth and their parents living in the Northeast area of KCK in grades 3-8.
Type of Assistance:
The program includes drug education and prevention starting at the 3rd grade level. It
focuses on the child and parent. Possible sites for the program include Juniper Gardens,
St. Margaret's and elementary and middle schools in the Northeast area of KCK.
Contributors to the Program:
Funding for the program comes from a SATR/SICC grant. The collaborators have committed to
various in-kind contributions.
PHA Funding:
KCKHA has committed the use of two community centers. In addition, KCKHA would assist in
recruiting youth and families that meet the criteria.
