Description:
Healthy Start provides assistance to pregnant women and families with children under the
age of one residing in the following zip code areas: 66101, 66102, 66103, 66104, 66105 and
66106.
Program Size:
Healthy Start serves hundreds of families each year.
Eligible Applicants:
Any pregnant women or a family with a child under the age of one. Specific zip code areas
are targeted as described above.
Type of Assistance:
Services through Healthy Start include assistance with follow through for pre-natal care,
immunizations and well-baby care visits. Education regarding parenting, child development
pre-natal and infant care. Referrals can be made to other community service providers for
housing, food, clothing, transportation, baby items, etc.
Contributors to the Program:
Kansas City Healthy Start is federally funded and assists persons in Jackson County, MO
and Wyandotte County, KS.
PHA Funding:
KCKHA encourages residents that qualify for the program to participate. KCKHA makes
referrals to the program with the consent of the resident. No direct public housing funds
are used for this program.
