Description:
KCKHA collaborates with KCK Public School's Early Childhood Services to provide services to children with developmental and learning deficiencies. The program targets Wyandotte County children ages birth to three who are at risk or have developmental delays and/or disabilities. Two locations are on public housing family developments.

Program Start Date:
September, 1998

Program Size:
Approximately 20 public housing families are served.

Eligible Participants:
Any child residing in Wyandotte County that has met the criteria of the program- having a delay in one of five tested areas- communication, cognitive, social/emotional, adaptive and physical. There is no charge to the family for the assessment or services.

Type of Assistance:
The services are customized to the needs of the families. Many families receive in-home services, while other children attend the program at a location near their residence. Children receive one to one instruction as well as participate in-group activities. The program assist children at the earliest age possible so delays can be dealt with and improved.

Contributors to the Program:
KCKHA provides one community center and one three-bedroom unit for Infant/ Toddler Services to run their program. The school district conducts on-site applications and screenings for residents of public housing.

PHA Funding:
KCKHA pays for the upkeep and maintenance of the facilities that Infant/Toddler Services occupies.
