EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

Description:
KCKHA Social Services Coordinator works closely with the residents of family developments and local social service agencies to provide emergency assistance to residents of public housing. Referrals are made to Catholic Charities, Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries, Economic Opportunity Foundation, Mount Carmel Church of God, Duschene Clinic, Turner House, Wyandot Mental Health Center and others.

Program Size:
Each year over 1,000 families are referred to community agencies.

Eligible Applicants:
Any person residing in public housing that is in need of emergency assistance and meets the required income guidelines.

Type of Assistance:
Assistance depends on the needs of each individual. Generally, emergency assistance involves rent and utility assistance, food, clothing and medication.

Contributors to the Program:
Every agency that provides emergency assistance receives funding from various private, public and government agencies.

PHA Funding:
All funding for this program is provided by the agencies that provide emergency assistance. No public housing funds are used.
