Description:
The KCKHA owns and manages Community Center facilities in six of our seven family
developments: Juniper Gardens, St. Margaret's, Chalet Manor, Cyrus K. Holliday, Belrose
Manor and Douglas Heights. Space in the Community Centers is contracted to a variety of
service providers who serve residents in each family development and others from the
community.
The Community Centers are used for Resident Association meetings and
summer programs for public housing youth. The Community Centers may also be rented out by
private businesses/ organizations for a fee. The KCKHA is responsible for the maintenance
of the facilities.
Located within each of the seven high rise buildings is a large community room that is
used for multi-purposes. During the week, a hot lunch is served daily. In the evenings and
on the weekends, social and spiritual activities are planned. The community room is also
used for Resident Council meetings as well as other meetings the HA may hold. The
community room is also available for outside agencies to use for a fee.
Type of Service:
Juniper Gardens Community Center: The facility consists of a large
community room, a stage, a full kitchen, restrooms and central air. Current Service
Providers that use the facility include GEAR UP, IAM CARES, JTPA, Keys for Networking,
Residents Association, and others with short term use of the Center.
St. Margaret's Community Center: The facility consists of two floors. Each floor has restrooms and the upstairs floor has a full kitchen. The facility has central air. Current Service Providers that use the facility include Head Start, GEAR UP, JTPA, Residents Association, and others with short-term use.
Chalet Manor Community Center: The facility consists of a large community room with restrooms downstairs. The community room has a full kitchen and central air. Current Service Providers that use the facility include GEAR UP, JTPA, Residents Association and others with short-term use.
Cyrus K. Holliday Community Center: The facility consists of a large community center with a full kitchen, restrooms and central air. Current Service Providers that use the facility include Infant/Toddler Services, Residents Association and others with short-term use.
Belrose Manor Community Center: The facility consists of a large community center with a full kitchen, restrooms and central air. Current Service Providers that use the facility include Head Start, JTPA, Residents Association and others with short-term use.
Douglas Heights Community Center: The facility consists of a large community center with a full kitchen, restrooms and central air. Current Service Providers that use the facility include Head Start, JTPA, Residents Association and others with short-term use.
Eligible Service Providers:
KCKHA Administrative Coordinator and the Social Services Coordinator, together with
Housing Management, work with residents to determine needs in the areas and to recruit and
continue to provide support to programs utilized by residents of all ages.
