CAMPFIRE BOYS AND GIRLS

Description:
Collaboration between KCKHA and Campfire Boys and Girls. Campfire Boys and Girls have an office on site at Grandview Park. This program runs year round and provides tutoring and social programs for boys and girls that live at Grandview Park. During the summer, many of the children receive scholarships to attend Camp Shawnee, a weeklong summer camp.

Summer, 1996

Program Size:
Approximately 60 children are served yearly.

Eligible Participants:
Youth that reside at Grandview Park family development.

Type of Assistance:
Youth at Grandview Park receive tutoring services, social activities, drug prevention education, computer skills, healthy snacks and much more.

Contributors to the Program:
Campfire Boys and Girls pay a portion of the costs for this program.

PHA Funding:
KCKHA commits a small part of their funding from the Public Housing Drug Elimination grant money for this program, as well as providing a three-bedroom unit at Grandview Park.
