Description:
The Garage Sale is held every August prior to children returning to school. Items are
donated from employees and other individuals. There are a variety of items and all items
are sold at extremely low prices. Hotdogs and beverages are served throughout the day.

Approximately 500 residents attend the Garage Sale.
Eligible Participants:
All persons residing in public housing.
Type of Assistance:
The Garage Sale allows residents to but good, used items at very low prices. Children's
clothing allows parents to do back- to -school shopping. The sale has something for
everyone including sporting goods, bicycles, household items, furniture, toys, clothing,
and much more.
Contributors to the Program:
All items for the Garage Sale are donated by KCKHA employees, HUD employees and other
individuals in the community.
PHA Funding:
No public housing funds are used for the garage sale, BUT the proceeds from the sale are
used for numerous resident incentive programming.
